Swedish massage was cultivated in the early 1800s by a Swedish physician who discovered the healing benefits the technique provided. The practice of Lomi Lomi massage originated in ancient Polynesia. The Native Hawaiian spiritual practitioners, or kahunas, continued to use Lomi Lomi as a means of restoration and healing, in concert with other herbal and ritual medicinal techniques.

The hallmark of a modern Lomi Lomi massage are continuous, fluid strokes applied by the hands, forearms, and elbows to the client’s body. The movements of the practitioner flow seamlessly from one area of the body to the next, with few breaks or transitions. Since Lomi Lomi strokes will move over various organs and joints of the body, the practitioner must use a delicate and skilled touch to avoid unnecessary pressure on sensitive areas.

The healing benefits of Lomi Lomi massage are many, including improved circulation for detoxifying the body, stimulation of the lymphatic system, release of muscle tension, and a deep sense of relaxation.

The use of hot stones in massage originated approximately 5000 years ago in India and was referred to as Ayurveda by the Hindu people. Pregnancy places strong demands on a woman's body and is a time for the body to be nurtured and pampered. This massage not only relieves the tensions and aches caused by the extra weight and shift of gravity, but also reduces swelling, relieves cramps, soothes the nervous system, acts as a tonic, reduces fatigue, and enhances energy. A couples massage is a shared experience designed for two people where each person involved receives a relaxing massage from a therapist. The massages are provided at the same time, in the same private room, but in different massage beds (one per person). The massage therapists start both massages at the same time and coordinate the treatment for the couple to ensure both parties get the same shared experience. The ambiance tends to be relaxing, dark, and calm in order to make the most out of the experience.

Cupping therapy is a type of alternative medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years, dating back to 1500 B.C. in Ancient Egyptian, Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures. Cups are placed on to the skin to create suction. This suction creates a negative pressure environment that allows for myofascial decompression as the skin is drawn into the cups. Cupping is known to help reduce pain, muscle tightness, inflammation and improves blood flow. Please note that this treatment may cause temporary bruising (known as ecchymosis), and swelling or soreness depending on the person or amount of treatment received.
